Linda Šedlere, Personnel and Administration Director, and Evita Goša, Environmental and Legal Director, members of the Management Board of SCHWENK Latvija, have taken positions 94 and 95, respectively, in the Forbes annual business women’s ranking.
The top of the most successful business women is formed according to a special methodology developed by Forbes: company indicators such as net turnover and its changes compared to the previous reporting period, net profit, export volume are used to evaluate the top participants. The top includes both business owners who own at least 10% of the capital shares and managers who act as officials on the boards of companies.

On September 1st, 2021, SCHWENK Suomi Oy acquired 100% of the shares in Betoni Center Oy.
Betoni Center operates three RMX-plants in the capital region of Finland and one RMX-plant in Tervakoski, situated 70 km north of Helsinki. The company owns and operates an aggregate quarry in the same region. The acquired assets also include mixer- and pumping trucks as well as concrete pumps. The annual turnover of the company is 4 MEUR and employs 10 persons. The company will continue its operations under the Betoni Center name and brand.
On August 21, the discussion “How much of your self-esteem is in shadow?” on the shadow economy, working in precarious conditions, the responsibility of the company, the State and the individual, on choices and opportunities to work in dignified conditions and ways, organized by SCHWENK Latvija took place on the stage DOTS at the LAMPA Conversation Festival in Cēsis. The discussion was moderated by an investigative journalist Indra Sprance, while the panel of experts consisted of competent multidisciplinary experts: Linda Šedlere, SCHWENK Latvija Member of the Management Board Personnel and Administration Director, Inese Vaivare, Director of Latvian Platform for Cooperation Development, Arnis Sauka, Economic Researcher, Artūrs Miksons, Doctor-Psychotherapist, Renārs Lūsis, Director of the State Labor Inspectorate, Chairman of the Board of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, Daiga Auziņa-Melalksne, Chairman of the Board of Nasdaq Riga, Head of the Nasdaq Baltic.

In limestone quarry “Kūmas” a parking lot before the entrance in the quarry has been created. The parking lot allows limestone carriers and SCHWENK Agro customers to park their trucks safely.
On June 15, the results of the Sustainability Index 2021 were announced. SCHWENK Latvija qualified for the highest or PLATINUM category. This assessment reflects the company’s understanding of the principles of responsibility and sustainability: progress in the work environment, the environment, the supply chain, attitudes towards customers and employees, investment in the development of the industry and the country, the company’s future plans.

Marking the World Environment Day, on June 4 the State Environmental Service in a solemn ceremony honoured the most outstanding companies in Latvia by presenting the annual award in environmental protection “Green Excellence 2021”.
SCHWENK Latvija became a laureate in the fierce competition in the nomination “Green Excellence Award in Waste Management and Remediation”.


On June 3, SCHWENK Latvija received the status “Family-Friendly Workplace” in the category “Large companies” for two years.
The employer’s orientation towards effective reconciliation of work and family life is the main criterion for receiving the status. It is important for the employer to understand the need to create a family-friendly workplace.
Our company offers a wide range of benefits to employees, which cost on average 40-60% of the employee’s salary. SCHWENK Latvija’s cooperation partner Būvmateriālu Transports has received five SCANIA CNG motor vehicles for cement transportation, which will further help ensure more environmentally friendly deliveries.
The project was implemented in collaboration with several stakeholders, including the Virši gas station network. Thanks to this project, Brocēni Gas Station has built filling equipment for CNG engines.
SCHWENK Latvija has received gratitude from the Society Integration Fund and the Institute of Corporate Social Responsibility (InCSR) for promoting the development of a family-friendly society.
