On October 18, SCHWENK Latvija received Diversity award for creating an inclusive work environment.
On October 23rd and 24th SCHWENK health and safety seminar in Riga and Broceni, it gathered SCHWENK representatives from Germany, Finland and Sweden. During summit SCHWENK Latvija shared practices across different company departments, initiatives, activities, statistics and plans for further development of the H&S system and implementing a holistic approach within the SCHWENK Group. Visiting various structures in Latvia, guests valuated the high performance and other activities that are implemented to improve employee and subcontractors health and safety.
In cooperation with the carrier DELTA LV and Saldus Secondary School, SCHWENK Latvija organized a traffic safety campaign for the 1st – 4th grade students of the Saldus Secondary School. It included theoretical training as well as a practical session, where children could play the role of truck driver, try and understand why reflective jackets are important and understand what blindspot means for truck drivers.
In October SCHWENK Latvija organized Charity Day at the Zante Family Crisis Center, where, along with more than 20 colleagues, we decorated and enhanced the surrounding environment, as well as donated things that could be needed in a daily life.
The first round of the SCHWENK Latvija Community project competition took place in Broceni, after which ten top-ranked ideas were put forward for the next round – the detailed elaboration of the project idea.
In August and September, SCHWENK Latvija achieved historically highest mileage for cement road transport over the last nine years – nearly 1.4 million kilometers each month.
Within the initiative the “Shadows of the entrepreneurs”, several representatives of public authorities visited Riga and Broceni. Employees of SCHWENK Latvija welcomed guests from the Ministry of Transport, Road Transportation directive, Ministry of Finance and the State Labor Inspectorate. The initiative is organized by the Ministry of Economics in cooperation with the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia (LDDK) and Junior Achievement Latvia (JAL) and was supported by 36 companies and 97 different institutions. The aim is to share experience, see the impact of regulatory enactments in companies, get to know each other and promote dialogue.
On August 30, SCHWENK Latvija customers and partners gathered at the annual event and met three legends – newly renovated venue Hanzas Perons, Maestro Raimonds Pauls and SCHWENK brand.
On Broceni secondary school 70th anniversary, SCHWENK Latvija made a gift to the school – the reconstruction of two concrete spheres at the entrance, returning the in the form of two concrete spheres building its historic appearance.
In August SCHWENK Latvija announced study scholarships for students of energy, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and mechanics. Graduates from Broceni or Saldus schools who are full-time students in higher or secondary vocational education institution accredited in Latvia are welcome to apply.
