On Broceni secondary school 70th anniversary, SCHWENK Latvija made a gift to the school – the reconstruction of two concrete spheres at the entrance, returning the in the form of two concrete spheres building its historic appearance.
In August SCHWENK Latvija announced study scholarships for students of energy, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and mechanics. Graduates from Broceni or Saldus schools who are full-time students in higher or secondary vocational education institution accredited in Latvia are welcome to apply.
On August 23, Linda Sedlere and Evita Gosa spoke as guest lecturers at Diversity Management Training – Point of View: Benefits, sharing experiences and know-how on creating an inclusive work environment.
On August 19, in cooperation with the Road Traffic Safety Directorate a technical inspection of SCHWENK carriers in the BK5 plant parking lot was carried out.
On July 13 SCHWENK Summer Festival was held. With a special trophy, designed from SCHWENK Latvija products, was awarded the team sports winning team.




On July 11 Director General of State Environmental Service Elita Baklāne-Ansberga together with representatives of Inčukalns Project Monitoring Commission from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development and Central Finance and Contracting Agency visited Broceni plant. During the visit, guests went on an excursion in cement plant and get to know the use of an alternative fuel in cement production process.
In June 27th, Broceni cement plant and limestone quarry Kumas was visited by Minister of Transport Talis Linkaits and ministries’ delegation. Guests were introduced to our plant and cement production process, as well as visited Kumu quarry and got impression about the critical road quality on the way to it.
SCHWENK Latvija received Platinum’s category in the Latvian Sustainability Index and the title of family-friendly entrepreneur. Also participated in the Responsible Business Week and talked about the Mission Zero – what SCHWENK Latvija does to implement health and safety culture.
On the evening of May 18, in Brocēni, we invited locals and guests of Brocēni city to get to know the history of cement production at the event within Night of Museums – “In the steps of cement production heroes”! During the event we introduced visitors to the history of cement production. The event brought together a large number of local and nearby region residents. Almost 400 participants took bus tours to the new cement plant. And even more had the opportunity to get to know the heritage of cement production in a unique exposition.

On May 10th, an annual clean-up day was held, where around 40 colleagues greened, cleaned and improved the area in the Brocēni plant, helped to set up a historic exposition about the cement production history. And after that, as usual, we gathered for a picnic.
